On Easter Monday, John returned home to discover the front of his property was flooded. The next day, David and Andrew from O’Shea Plumbing assessed the situation and confirmed a water leak. Concerned, John chose our water leak detection service with equipment, as the issue seemed to stem from a leak under the concrete.
David and Andrew began the investigation. David conducted various tests, while Andrew looked for an access point under the house. Once access was found, it became evident that the issue had been ongoing for some time, as there was a significant pool of water, approximately 200mm deep, underneath the entire home. Such pooling can lead to substantial damage to the home’s structure, including cracked walls or even worse outcomes.
David and Andrew discovered an irrigation system that had been dormant for 20 years. Andrew, after verifying that the tap was inadvertently left on, promptly shut it off and disconnected the irrigation system from the tap. A subsequent pressure test revealed no drop in pressure, indicating that the leak had been successfully identified and resolved by merely turning off a tap.
Leaks don’t always originate from the irrigation system but isolating it can narrow down the search area significantly. Fortunately, in this case, the leak stemmed from an old, inadvertently left-on irrigation system. By turning it off and disconnecting it, the leak was effectively resolved.
