Lawrie’s Legacy

O’Shea Plumbing was founded by Lawrie O’Shea in 1978. Lawrie wanted to create a Melbourne plumbing company built on honesty and integrity. A company that provided customers with high quality solutions that would last. He spent over 40 years doing just that.

When Lawrie decided to hang up his work boots and travel around Australia, he started searching for a successor who shared his vision and values. In stepped Steve Withers, a driven young business owner who was committed to doing things The O’Shea Way.

Since 2021, Steve has grown the business in partnership with his highly skilled team. His good mate Jarett Maddock, who worked with Lawrie for 11 years, has been there every step of the way building our reputation for outstanding customer service and quality work.

Meet our director, Steve

Two and a half years into a law degree, Steve realised he wanted to help people in a different way. He pursued a career in plumbing and quickly excelled winning Apprentice of The Year. Given his dad is a civil plumber, you could say it’s in the genes.

In 2012, Steve established his first successful business, Vic Plumbing and Drainage – a Melbourne plumbing company that has grown into an industry leader with a team of 50. Always on the lookout for a new opportunity, Steve was thrilled to take over O’Shea Plumbing in 2021 and further Lawrie’s legacy of providing the best plumbing services in Melbourne.

As a child, Steve lived in more than 20 houses and went to over 12 schools. The nomadic lifestyle helped make him the resilient, level-headed and people person he is today. It also taught him that home is wherever your family is.

Steve’s greatest joy and inspiration comes from his family. His entrepreneurial wife, Sabrina is his trusted co-pilot and plays a vital role in the running of the family businesses. Together they are raising three adored kids – Sienna, Tate and Olivia.
